These terms cover touched-by-nature.com. Using the site means reading its sizes and figures, holding them against the baby you are dressing, and following its links. They are written for that use and no other.

What this site is

This is the Touched by Nature catalog: organic cotton bodysuits and rompers, zip sleepers and gowns, wearable sleep sacks, swaddles and receiving blankets, pull-on pants and leggings, dresses and hoodies, socks, bibs and hats, crib sheets, changing pad covers and hooded towels, with the size range, the pack count and the fabric printed where you can read them before you decide. It is a reference, not a checkout. Our retail partner takes the payment, ships the parcel and handles any return, and the contract of sale is formed there, on their terms.

Cribs, sacks and swaddles

A sleep sack is a piece of clothing, not a safety device, and nothing in this catalog changes the rules about what belongs in a crib. The national guidance is short and it is blunt: a firm flat surface, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in there, no quilts, no loose blankets, no soft coverings, and nothing non-fitted even when it is light or small or tucked in. Where a wearable blanket helps is that it warms a baby without anything to pull over a face: the pediatric guidance says plainly that infant sleep clothing is preferable to blankets and coverings for exactly that reason. Two conditions come with it. It has to be the right size for the baby, so it cannot ride up over the head. And a wrap that holds the arms and chest, a swaddle rather than a sack, stops the day a baby shows signs of rolling. Weighted sleepwear of any kind is not recommended at all.

Sleepwear and flammability

Cotton pajamas are not flame resistant, and the federal rules do not ask them to be. The US sleepwear standards cover sizes 0 to 6X and 7 to 14, and they except two groups from the flame tests: infant garments inside the stated sizes, and tight-fitting garments that meet the measurements and carry the labelling. That is why snug-fitting cotton sleepwear is sold with a tag telling you it is not flame resistant and should fit closely, a loose cotton nightgown near a candle or a space heater is the case the rule was written about. Excepted garments still have to meet the general apparel flammability standards. Read the label that came with the garment. It says which of these two routes the piece took.

Figures and photographs

Sizes, pack counts and fabrics come from our product data. Prices move. The figure at the till is the one that counts, and where the two disagree, the till wins. Photographs show the colorway being sold rather than a styled substitute, and a frame that argues with its caption is pulled rather than captioned around.
