About Touched by Nature sleep sacks

A sleep sack is a blanket the baby wears, and that is a safety argument rather than a convenience one. The national sleep guidance asks for a firm surface, a fitted sheet and nothing else in the crib. The pediatric guidance then says plainly that infant sleep clothing is preferable to blankets, because it cannot ride up over a head. These sacks are single-layer organic cotton, which puts them at the light end: a room in the high sixties, with a long-sleeve bodysuit underneath on a cold night.

Size by weight and length, not by hope. A sack with room to grow into is the one failure case worth avoiding, because the extra fabric is exactly what can come up over a face. The sleeveless cuts leave the arms free and stay usable long after a baby starts rolling. If you are coming off a swaddle, that is the shape to move to, and the day to move is the day you see the first roll.

Questions about touched by nature sleep sacks

Answered for this line rather than for the whole range: 28 colorways, 6 sizes, $12.02 to $37.85.

How warm is a Touched by Nature sleep sack for your nursery?

They are not sold to a tog rating. They are one layer of organic cotton, which behaves roughly like a light sack: comfortable in a room around 68 to 70 degrees with a bodysuit underneath, not enough on its own in a cold one.

When should you stop putting your baby in a sleep sack?

The sleeveless sacks here can carry on through toddlerhood, they leave the arms free and do not restrict rolling. What stops at the first sign of rolling is anything that holds the arms and chest, which means a swaddle rather than one of these.

Can you put a Touched by Nature sack over pajamas?

Yes, and that is the usual way: a bodysuit or a sleeper underneath, the sack over the top. It also gives you a layer to remove at two in the morning without undressing anybody.
