About Touched by Nature swaddle blankets

Forty by forty is the measurement that matters on this page. A wrap smaller than that runs out of fabric at the second fold, and one that runs out of fabric comes undone around three in the morning. These are single-layer organic cotton, so they breathe rather than insulate, and they go on doing other jobs for a year after the swaddling stops: a changing surface on a friend’s floor, a cover over a stroller, something to feed under.

What they are not is crib bedding. A blanket does not belong loose in with a sleeping baby, however light it is, and the guidance is blunt about that. Swaddling itself has its own stopping point: the day a baby shows signs of rolling, a wrap that holds the arms goes away and a sleeveless sack takes over. Several of the sets on this page come with a matching cap or headband in the same print, which is what makes them the thing people buy as a gift.

Questions about touched by nature swaddle blankets

Answered for this line rather than for the whole range: 27 colorways, 3 sizes, $10.99 to $33.99.

Are Touched by Nature swaddle blankets big enough for your wrap?

Most are 40 by 40 inches. That is the size that still has fabric left at the last fold, which is what keeps a wrap closed through a night rather than through an hour.

How many Touched by Nature swaddles do you need in rotation?

Three or four in rotation, which is why they are packed in twos and threes. One is on the baby, one is in the wash, one is under the changing mat and one is in the bag you leave the house with.

When should you stop swaddling your baby?

At the first sign of rolling. After that a wrap that holds the arms is the wrong shape, and the sleeveless sleep sacks on this site are the thing that replaces it.
